The story behind Wayve.

The future of activewear is natural.

Our mission

Bring modern life back into alignment with nature.

We create high-performance apparel from natural fibers, proving that health, performance, and modern design don't require synthetic compromise.

Activewear is where we're starting.

Our goal is to make natural fibers the new standard for what we wear, and help make healthier, more natural ways of living normal again.

Why we exist

Somewhere along the way, plastic became the uniform of health.

We train because we care about our bodies.

Yet most modern activewear is made from petroleum-derived synthetic fibers like polyester, nylon, and spandex.

It became the default and almost nobody stopped to ask why.

We did.

We don't believe performance has to mean more synthetics, more engineered fabrics, and more plastic.

We believe the best materials already exist in nature.

Organic cotton. Merino wool. Natural fibers that have been worn for generations, crafted to support modern movement.

We call it natural performance.

We want natural fibers to stop being considered the alternative.

They should be the standard.

Meet the founder

I started Wayve because I couldn't find the clothes I wanted to wear.

I'm Yahli, founder of Wayve.

I didn't come from a fashion background. I came to this through my own health journey.

Like a lot of people, after I started paying attention to the things I put in and around my body (my food, water, cookware, household products, etc.) I realized toxins are everywhere, and you have to actively make choices to avoid them in daily life.

After making all the household swaps, I looked down at my workout clothes and realized I was wearing plastic.

It didn't feel right, especially considering everything else I was doing to avoid plastic in the rest of my life.

So I went looking for natural-fiber workout clothes.

What I found technically checked the "natural" box, but I didn't want to wear any of it. The fits felt boring. The performance wasn't good enough. The products felt like "alternatives" that simply didn't measure up to what I was used to.

I wanted something that looked and performed like modern activewear without relying on synthetic materials.

So with no fashion background, I started learning.

Factories. Fabrics. Tech packs. Patterns. Sampling. Manufacturing.

Multiple factories told me what I wanted to make would be too difficult. It took roughly a year of development to create our first Quad Short.

But eventually, we made it work.

Wayve is the brand I went searching for and couldn't find.

And we're still just getting started.

Our standards

Trust should be earned.

The apparel industry asks customers to take a lot at face value.

We'd rather be fully transparent.

Our materials and manufacturing partners are backed by respected third-party standards, and we independently test finished products to verify what actually reaches you.

01

GOTS

Global Organic Textile Standard

Used across our organic cotton supply chain, GOTS is one of the world's leading standards for textiles made from certified organic fibers, with requirements covering processing and manufacturing.

02

OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100

Tests textiles against limits for a wide range of substances that may be harmful to human health.

For our garments, that includes the dyes: our colours are low-impact dyes certified to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100.

03

RWS

Responsible Wool Standard

Supports animal welfare and responsible land-management practices throughout certified wool supply chains.

04

Independent lab testing

Certifications matter.

But we wanted to go further.

We independently test finished Wayve garments for fiber composition and substances including PFAS, phthalates, BPA, and glyphosate.

FAQ

Common questions about Wayve.

What is Wayve?

Wayve is a natural-fiber activewear company based in Los Angeles. We create modern performance apparel using materials like organic cotton and merino wool instead of conventional synthetic fibers.

Our goal is to make natural fibers the new standard for activewear.

Why doesn't Wayve use polyester or nylon?

Polyester and nylon are synthetic fibers derived from petroleum.

We created Wayve around a different idea: that modern activewear can be made from natural materials without sacrificing performance, fit, or design.

That's why our apparel is built around natural fibers rather than synthetic ones.

Is Wayve activewear 100% natural fiber?

Our goal is complete material transparency and eliminating synthetic fibers from the garments we make.

Each product page lists its exact material composition so you can see precisely what you're wearing.

What materials does Wayve use?

Our core materials are organic cotton and merino wool.

We choose different natural fibers based on what the garment needs to do. Organic cotton gives us structure, softness, and durability, while merino wool offers natural temperature regulation, moisture management, and odor resistance.

Can natural fibers actually work for exercise?

That's exactly what Wayve was created to prove.

Natural materials require a different approach to performance apparel than conventional synthetics. Rather than trying to imitate polyester, we design garments around the natural properties of each fiber.

Our Quad Short, for example, combines an organic cotton outer shell with a merino wool liner to create a two-layer natural-fiber training system.

What makes Wayve different from other natural-fiber clothing brands?

We don't believe using natural materials gives a product permission to compromise everywhere else.

Our standard is simple: it should be natural and perform well and look good.

That means modern fits, functional construction, premium materials, thoughtful details, and constant iteration based on how people actually use the products.

Who founded Wayve?

Wayve was founded by Yahli Malchin in Los Angeles after he began removing unnecessary synthetic and plastic-based products from his own life and realized there wasn't a natural-fiber activewear option he genuinely wanted to wear.

With no background in fashion, he began developing one himself.

Where is Wayve based?

Wayve is based in Los Angeles, California.

The brand is heavily influenced by Southern California's relationship with movement, outdoor living, health, and nature.

Where are Wayve products made?

We work with specialized manufacturing partners based on the materials, construction, and expertise required for each product.

Rather than choosing factories based on geography alone, we look for partners capable of meeting our standards for natural materials, construction quality, certifications, and consistency.

Specific sourcing and material details are shared whenever possible throughout our product pages and educational content.

What does "Wear the Earth, Not the Waste" mean?

It's the whole Wayve philosophy in five words.

Wear the Earth is the straightforward half. Clothes made from materials that come from nature: organic cotton, merino wool, what people wore for generations before petroleum got involved.

Not the Waste is the half with teeth. The industry's answer to its own plastic problem is recycled polyester, spun from discarded bottles and packaging and sold back to you as the "sustainable" option. It's still plastic. It still sheds microplastics, it still holds odor, and it still sits against your skin every time you train.

Turning waste into activewear doesn't make it good for you. It just moves the waste onto your body.

We'd rather start with materials that were never waste to begin with.

There's a bigger idea underneath it. Progress doesn't always mean moving further away from nature. Sometimes the better way forward is finding our way back.

Find your way back.

We're starting with activewear.

But Wayve has always been about something bigger than shorts.

It's about questioning the artificial defaults we've inherited and building a healthier version of modern life by combining the best of human innovation with the wisdom of nature.
