FAQ
What makes Wayve different from other activewear brands?
Most activewear is built on synthetics like polyester, nylon, and spandex because they’re cheap, easy to manufacture, and easy to scale. Wayve went in the opposite direction.
We craft clothing the hard way: from 100% natural fibers, in small batches, without shortcuts or synthetic blends. No polyester. No recycled plastic disguised as “sustainable.” No chemical performance coatings.
Everything we make is designed from scratch, crafted to last, and built to support a natural way of living rather than the disposable fast-fashion cycle.
Wayve isn’t just clothing. It’s a philosophy around natural living stitched into fabric.
Why doesn’t Wayve use polyester, nylon, or spandex in any clothing?
Because these fibers are plastic derived from petrochemicals and waste that don’t breathe, trap odor, and shed microplastics with every wear and wash.
Microplastics from the textile industry now make up 35% of global marine microplastic pollution and have been detected in human blood, lungs, and placental tissue.
The science community has linked microplastic accumulation to adverse health effects that impact fertility, hormonal health, inflammation, and more.
We stand firmly against this and built our brand to offer a solution to this massive problem.
How do natural fibers perform compared to synthetics?
Natural fibers outperform synthetics where it matters most: they breathe, regulate temperature, absorb moisture, and resist odor without chemical finishes. Synthetics may stretch more, but they also trap heat and bacteria, feel plasticky, and lose integrity over time.
Are Wayve’s products fully plastic-free?
Our fabrics are always 100% natural — organic cotton, merino wool, or other plant- and animal-based fibers. That’s the foundation of everything we make.
Some structural components, like certain stitching threads and select waistbands, currently require synthetic reinforcement for durability and performance. These elements make up a very small percentage of the garment, and we are continuously working with our factories to reduce or replace them as natural technologies evolve.
What you’ll never see from us is polyester, nylon, spandex, or recycled plastic used as the main fabric of a garment. The part that touches your skin, which we feel is most important, is entirely natural.
Our goal is simple: minimize plastic to the absolute lowest amount possible while keeping the garment functional and long-lasting. And as we continue to grow and find new technologies, we will continue to push the boundary and become 100% plastic-free.
How does Wayve design its clothing?
We design every garment from scratch, developing silhouettes that move with the body, honor the natural fiber, and serve real daily use for years to come.
There are no stock blanks, no factory templates, no logo slaps. Every stitch, seam, curve, dye, and label is intentional and designed to outlast trends.
Where are Wayve products made and how do you choose manufacturers?
We partner with small, specialized factories all over the world that understand natural fibers and share our commitment to plastic-free materials. Every partner must be able to work without synthetic fibers – a requirement that eliminates most of the modern activewear supply chain. We choose factories based on:
- expertise with organic cotton and merino wool
- low-impact dyeing
- ethical working conditions
- small-batch production capability
Quality is intentional and begins before the first stitch.
Why is small-batch clothing more expensive?
Big brands lower costs by producing millions of identical garments using the cheapest materials available such as recycled polyester.
For us, it’s not about making the biggest profit, rather making the best garments that align with our core values.
- we use premium natural fibers
- we produce in limited quantities
- we avoid synthetic shortcuts
- we pay more for ethical, slower, higher-quality manufacturing
Small batch means we don’t over-produce, don’t landfill excess inventory, and don’t water down the product to hit mass-market prices. As an up and coming brand, we pay a premium to produce clothing in this manner and our prices reflect it.
What does ‘Wear the Earth, Not the Waste’ mean?
On the surface, it’s simple: choose natural fibers like organic cotton and merino wool, and reject plastic-based fabrics — including so-called “recycled” polyester, which is still waste in another form.
But the motto goes deeper than materials. It’s our philosophy in one line:
live in alignment with the Earth, not against it. Reconnect to nature instead of covering your body in petrochemical fibers. We believe your clothing should be an extension of your values. When you wear Wayve, you’re choosing clothing that respects your body, honors nature, and quietly rejects the backwards systems that steer people away from living naturally.
Is Wayve sustainable? What practices or standards do you follow?
Wayve is built on the belief that sustainability starts with material choice. We use natural fibers, avoid plastics, produce in small batches, and choose factories that prioritize ethical working conditions and low-impact dyeing. Beyond simply using natural fibers, our factories are certified with various titles including GOTS Certified Organic Cotton, OEKO-TEX 100 dyes, and Mulesing-free merino wool.
